Carl Henry Taylor, age 77, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. Funeral service was held Monday, March 4, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jody Bryant officiating. Interment followed at Bishop Chapel Cemetery in Midville. The family received visitors Monday, March 4, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

Pallbearers were Jon MacDonald, Jason Daughtry, Noah Shuman, Josh MacDonald, Jacob MacDonald and Doug Brown. Honorary pallbearers were close family friends, Paul Rushing, Gary Wilhelm and Johnny Vickery.

Carl was born September 13, 1946, in Emanuel County. He attended Swainsboro High School and Georgia Southern College. After college, Carl remained in Statesboro and worked as an industrial engineer at various companies including Brooks Instrument, Cooper Wiss and Gulfstream Aerospace. In 1993, he opened Taylor Built Products, a machine and hydraulic shop, where he was known to be able to “fix” anything. Carl truly had a heart for helping others. He enjoyed camping, boating, hunting, and fishing, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Taylor is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Cardell Taylor and Velma Bishop Taylor.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his loving wife, Nan Taylor; daughters, Leslie Shuman of Statesboro, Jill MacDonald (Jon) of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Ashley Daughtry (Jason) of Statesboro; six grandchildren, Noah and Peyton Shuman, Josh and Jacob MacDonald, and Olivia and Wilkes Daughtry; sister, Barbara Stokes of Swainsboro; brother, Larry Taylor (Debbie) of Brunswick; aunt, Sybil Taylor of Cedartown; sister-in-law, Anita Reames of Valdosta; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory of Statesboro was in charge of arrangements.
