Mrs. Carolyn Braswell Hughes Way, age 85, of Swainsboro, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025, at PruittHealth Swainsboro following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Monday, February 10, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Berry Peavy officiating, assisted by Reverend Greg Ely. Interment followed in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. Family received friends Monday, February 10, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Mrs. Way’s grandsons.

Carolyn was born November 15, 1939, in Norristown, to Lois Lee Braswell and Fannie Love Braswell. Mrs. Way is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Hughes; son, Ken Way; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Barwick and Glenda Faye Moxley; brothers, Jimmy Braswell, Johnny Braswell and Billy Braswell; grandson, Chad Hughes.

Mrs. Way is survived by her husband of 42 years, Wayne Way of Swainsboro; sons, Randy Hughes (Becky) of Swainsboro, Steve Hughes (Molly) of Orangeburg, SC, Jay Hughes (Cynthia) of Swainsboro and Ashley Way (Kimmi) of Adel; daughters, Carol Buck (Michael) of Savannah and Rebecca Kight (Davy) of Kite; brothers, Remer Braswell (Ida Carolyn) of Dothan, AL and Don Braswell (Lisa) of Laurens, SC; sisters, Sandra Whitfield of Twin City and Gail Rowland of Swainsboro; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
