David Emanuel Varsity Boys’ and Girls’ basketball teams are Region runner-ups

The David Emanuel Academy Eagles Varsity Boys’ and Girls’ basketball teams played in the 2024 GIAA Region Tournament at John Hancock Academy that started on February 13. The Lady Eagles secured a win over the John Hancock Lady Spartans with a final score of 51-44. Addalyn Terwilliger led the Eagles on the scoreboard with 17 points followed by Emma Proctor with 16 points. Also contributing were Kylie Bell (8 points), Aubrey Williams (4 points), Payton Peebles (3 points), Maddie Perkins (2 points) and Bailey McNure (1 point).

The Eagles Varsity Boys’ team defeated the John Hancock Rebels in overtime 61-59. Billy Martin led the team on the board with 18 points. Also contributing to the Eagles score were Randon Williams (13 points), Richard Braddy (10 points), Peyton Lee (10 points), Ethan Fields (8 points) and Brody Fleming (2 points). Both wins advanced the Eagles Varsity Girls’ and Boys’ teams to the Region Championship game on February 16.

In the girls’ championship game, the Lady Eagles competed against the Thomas Jefferson Lady Jaguars. The game ended in a loss to the Jags with a final score of 45-38. Emma Proctor led the Eagles on the board with 13 points followed by Addalyn Terwilliger with 12 points. Also contributing were Aubrey Williams (5 points), Kylie Bell (4 points), Bailey McNure (2 points) and Maddie Perkins (2 points).

The Eagles Varsity Boys’ team battled the Monsignor Donovan Christian School Rams in a final score of 84-64. Randon Williams led the Eagles with 24 points. Also contributing to the scoreboard were Billy Martin (12 points), Ethan Fields (11 points), Tony Sutton (7 points), Peyton Lee (6 points), Jay Carter (2 points) and John-Nathan Martin (2 points). Both Eagle teams were able to advance to the GIAA State Playoffs.
