DEA Middle School Basketball ends season in tournament

On Wednesday, January 24, the David Emanuel Academy middle school boys’ and girls’ basketball teams traveled to Edmund Burke Academy to compete in a tournament with sur-rounding area schools. In the first round, the DEA middle school girls competed against Robert Toombs where the Eagles fell 25-13 to RTCA. Aubrey Scott scored 6 points to lead DEA. Also contributing were Lyla Martin with 5 points and Emily McRae with 2 points. Fol-lowing the girls’ game, the middle school boys’ team competed against Edmund Burke Academy. Although the score was tied at 13 at halftime, the Spartans pulled away ending with a final score of 37-18. Karson Kettles scored 6 points to lead DEA. Dalton Flowers and Charlie McRae each scored 3 points followed by Jack Evan Fields, Eli Way, and Ben Griner each with 2 points.

On Saturday, January 27, the Eagles traveled back to Edmund Burke Academy for the sec-ond round of the middle school basketball tournament. The DEA middle school girls com-peted against Edmund Burke Academy where the Eagles were able to secure a victory with a final score of 23-19. Lyla Martin led the team with 6 points followed by Aubrey Scott with 3 points, Scout Hall and Rayleigh Faircloth each with 2 points. In the middle school boys’ game, the Eagles played against Robert Toombs Christian Academy. The Eagles fell short to the Crusaders with a final score of 30-19. Leading the Eagles in points was Ben Griner with 8 points. Also contributing were Karson Kettles with 4 points, Charlie McRae, Jack Evan Fields, and Lake Woods each with 2 points, and Dalton Flowers with 1 point. This wrapped up the Eagles’ 2024 basketball season for the middle school teams.
