Derrick A. Farris, 62, of Kite, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Augusta University. Memorial Service was held Saturday, July 27, at 12 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Brad McKenzie officiating. The family received friends Friday, July 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Derrick was born August 11, 1961, in Atlanta, to Donald Derrick Farris and Gwendolyn Crenshaw Farris. He loved hunting, golfing, fishing and people. Derrick was the founder of the Farris Farm Hunting Club and owner of Farris Construction. He was a member of the Swainsboro Country Club; their team’s name was “Old Farts.” Once Derrick loved you, you were his best friend for life. Derrick was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Farris is preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Farris is survived by his wife, Alicia Morrison Farris; sons, Jeremy Farris, Matthew Farris (Emma), Jared Morrison and Camron Davis; daughter, Lauren Davis; sister, Roxanna Welborn; granddaughter, Josie Farris; and niece, Claire Helvie.
In leu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 515 Denmark Street, Statesboro, GA 30458.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
