Dr. Marrero speaks to Swainsboro Rotary Club

The Swainsboro Rotary Club met for its weekly luncheon on Monday, September 14, at Rustic Grill, with President Morgan Boulineau calling the meeting to order. Rotarian Wade Johnson gave the invocation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and Rotary 4-Way Test led by President Boulineau.

Rotarian Harley Smith introduced guest speaker, Dr. Kyle Marrero, president of Georgia Southern University. President Marrero shared several updates from the university, including a record Fall 2026 enrollment of 33,783 students and the largest freshman class in Georgia Southern history. He also noted the university’s recent designation as a Carnegie R1 Research Institution and its annual economic impact of $1.239 billion on the region. President Marrero highlighted continued growth at the East Georgia Campus in Swainsboro, including ongoing facility improvements and expansion of the campus athletic program. The East Georgia Golden Eagles now compete in the NAIA and field men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and softball.
