Thursday, February 27, DEA competed in the GAPPS Elementary Academic Day. DEA placed second overall in the region! This is a competition for grades 1 – 5 and entails a spelling bee, quiz bowl, and math bowl. During the morning portion of the day the 1st – 3rd graders competed in their spelling bees. For 1st Grade, Millie Boatright placed 3rd overall. In the 2nd Grade Bee, Nichols Martin won 1st place and his classmate Jackson Flanders placed 2nd.
In the afternoon portion of Elementary Academic Day Spelling Bees, 4th Graders Brantley Collins and Blayne Webb tied for 2nd place. Bailey Duckworth, 5th Grader, won her division.
Teams participating in the Math Bowl as well. The Third Grade Team placed 2nd and the 4th Grade Team won 1st place!
