Emanuel County Ferst Readers program currently provides quality books every month in the homes of 320 children under the age of 5 in our county. The books come with a parent newsletter with activities and parenting tips to engage the family in reading to their child.
Did you know having access to books in the home is one of the top predictors of school success? During the month of October, Emanuel County Family Connection will sponsor their annual “Book Character Contest” fundraiser to provide these books to children. This virtual fundraiser will run from Oct 1 – 31 and will be promoted multiple times throughout the month of October. This will be a character vs. character competition, and the community is encouraged to support this program by voting for their favorite character with a donation of $4 per vote. Please follow the contest on the Emanuel County Family Connection Facebook page starting October 1.
