Mrs. Frances F. Johnson, 85, of Canoochee, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin while surrounded by her family. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 16, 2 p.m. at Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Elder Will Martin officiating. Interment followed at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Family received friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 16, at Durden Hudson Funeral Directors.

Pallbearers were Wesley Peebles, Dylan Dixon, Jeff Farmer, Sammy Flanders, Mitch Johnson and Grey Thurman. Honorary pallbearer was Emmitt Joiner, Jr.

Mrs. Frances was born June 2, 1939, to the late Joe E. Farmer and Ida Mae Faircloth Farmer.

She was a 1959 graduate of Swainsboro High School. Frances’ first job was at Powell Smith Hospital in Swainsboro as a nursing assistant when she was only a teenager, where she would meet and eventually marry the love of her life. She was working at Public Finance in Swainsboro when she married on September 11, 1960. Soon after, Frances took a break from employment in 1962 to start a family. She returned to the workforce in the early 1970s after her youngest daughter started school by taking a job at Sears in Swainsboro. Years later, Frances took a job with the Department of Labor in Statesboro and retired from this job January 1, 2002. She was quite an accomplished sketcher and watercolor artist. Frances drew freehand and then would paint the art on canvas or saw blades. Her favorite objects to sketch were barns and old houses. Frances also enjoyed working in her flower beds, especially her daylilies. She loved her God and depended on his guidance and strength. Frances’ family was her everything and she always wanted them near to her. She was a member of Hebron Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Kathy Youngblood.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband of 64 years, Billy J. Johnson of Canoochee; daughters, Lisa J. Peebles of Canoochee and Sandi Dixon (Kenny) of Dublin; brother, Donnie Joe Farmer (Gwen) of Kemp; grandchildren, Wesley Peebles (Sierra) of Wilmington Island, Dylan Dixon of Dublin and Dana Collier (Kole) of Macon; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
