Frederick Allan Jones, 90, of Tybee Island, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 4, 2024. A memorial service was held Thursday, August 15, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Tybee Island.

Allan was born in Raleigh, North Carolina to the late Robert Ward and Clyde Watts Jones. His family relocated to Savannah where he graduated from Savannah High School. Allan then attended the University of Georgia where he graduated in 1957 with a bachelor’s in business administration. After graduation, he served in the Army where he was stationed in Germany for two years. Allan married Sara Haeseler of Sardis on December 25, 1957. In 1960, he began his banking career in Waynesboro with the First National Bank of Waynesboro. Soon after, Allan graduated from Georgia Banking School, the American Institute of Banking and The Banking School of the South at Louisiana State University. In 1975, he relocated to Swainsboro where he became a Vice President with The Citizens Bank of Swainsboro. After retiring from a long career in banking, Allan became an agent with the Georgia Farm Bureau Insurance Company where he earned many awards for sales and service. He was a member of the Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church and the American Legion 154 on Tybee Island, was a frequent volunteer with the Tybee Beautification Association and a member of the Tybee Island YMCA. Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sara Jones.

Mr. Jones is survived by his son, Allan Bradford (Catherine) Jones of Marietta; daughter, Tracey Jones (Henry) Inglesby of Savannah; grandchildren, Caroline Jones Smith, Will Jones and Jacob Jones, all from Atlanta, Sarah Elizabeth Inglesby and Phillip Inglesby, both of Savannah; and brother Robert (Ann) Jones of Blowing Rock, NC.

Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
