At the January 2025 meeting of the City Commission of Twin City, the Mayor and City Commissioners officially thanked Foster Grimes for his 28 years of service to the Twin City Fire Department. Of those 28 years of service, he served 12 years as the Fire Chief. Grimes retired as Fire Chief at the end of 2024. Grimes has accepted a new position with the Emanuel County Board of Commissioners as the Public Safety & Fire Support Officer. Grimes will be leading county-wide training for all Emanuel County Fire Departments and helping with administrative duties. Grimes will continue to serve on the Twin City Fire Department.

Mayor Donaldson said about the retirement of Grimes, “During my term as Mayor, Foster has been pivotal in advocating for the Twin City Fire Department. He has pursued grants and other funding opportunities to help grow our department. He’s left his mark on the Twin City Fire Department, and we are thankful for his leadership. Additionally, we are grateful he will continue to serve on the department.”

At the January 2025 meeting, the City Commission approved the appointment of Chatt Jones as the new Twin City Fire Chief.
