Jenene Johnson Donaldson, age 92, of Twin City, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at her residence. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 18, at 3 p.m. at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Twin City with Elder Sam Bowen officiating. Interment followed in Bethel Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. Family received friends one hour prior to service at the church.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
Jenene was born January 18, 1934, in Statesboro, to the late Bothwell Alexander “Snag” Johnson and Rubene Hendrix Johnson. She lived a life filled with love, faith and dedication to her family. Being a grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was one of her greatest joys.
Jenene retired after twenty years as a bookkeeper with Atkinsons Candies of Garfield and after retirement, she spent her time on her many talents; cooking, baking, cross-stitching and gardening. She was well known for her delicious homemade cakes. Jenene was a longtime member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church and valued her faith dearly. Mrs. Donaldson is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 74 years, William Lewis Donaldson, Sr.; daughters, Marsha Lynn Donaldson and Sharon Donaldson Smith; and sister, Joan McKenzie.
Survivors include her son, Lew Donaldson (Tammy) of Twin City; daughter, Joanie Adams (Mike) of Evans; sister, Nancy Hope of Brunswick; grandchildren, Wes Donaldson (Debbie), Alex Donaldson (Becca), Bill Donaldson (Krystal), Matt Lindsey, Rhett Smith, Erica Smith, Rann Smith Cogdill (Lloyd) and Suzanne Smith Boyer (Brian); great-grandchildren, Chase Donaldson, Ethan Donaldson, Aiden Donaldson, Ava Donaldson, Kaylee Roberts, Maggie Smith, Jayden Stone, Jillian Hampton, Olivia Hampton and Emmett Watson; great-great-granddaughter, Stella Donaldson; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Jenene Johnson Donaldson, c/o William Donaldson, 435 S. Williams Street, Metter, GA 30439.
The family wants to extend a special thanks to her devoted caregiver, Cherry Fann, and Gentiva Hospice of Statesboro for her excellent care.
