Joyce Elizabeth Cox Collins, age 79, of Metter, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Family received friends Saturday, February 22, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Kennedy Funeral Home Hooks Chapel in Metter with a service to follow, officiated by Rev. Larry Compton. Interment followed at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Joyce was born June 30, 1945, in Augusta, to the late John Cox and Thelma Hitt Keith. After graduating from high school, she was a stay-at-home mother, later working at Pyrofax Gas Co., which is what brought her to settle in Metter. Joyce then worked as a teller for Durden Bank. She loved antiquing and loved picking up a trinket at every little antique shop in the area. Joyce was a wonderful mother and did a great job caring for her family. She took pride in caring for the graves at the family cemetery, making sure they always had fresh flowers. Joyce was a Christian by faith, and she was described as the most faithful member of Scarboro Baptist Church, having served the church in every capacity, helping with everything she possibly could. She was a loving mother and a helpful friend to many. Mrs. Collins is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Louis Keith, Sr.; daughter, Robin Roulain; sister, Irma Lou Ritchart; and husband, Edward “Ed” Collins.

Those who will cherish Joyce’s memory are her son, Chris Roulain; brother, Louis (Leigh) Keith; sisters, Kim (Doug) King and Brenda Hadden; nephews, Eric (Nichole) Keith, Ashley (Malerie) Keith, Joe (Margie) Hadden and Keith Hadden; grandchild, Courtney (Steven) Mahady; and great-grandchildren, Ezra and Miles Mahady. Ms. Collins will also be greatly missed by her dear friend, Mildred.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scarboro Baptist Church.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter was in charge of the arrangements.
