by GEORGIA BANKERS ASSOCIATION

Luke Lanier, city president at Durden Banking Company in Metter, has been elected by his peers across the state as chair-elect of the Leadership GBA Board of Directors. Leadership GBA supports the advancement of career bankers by providing leadership development training, serving as a forum through which career bankers can network and exchange ideas and promoting industry advocacy activities at the local, state and federal levels. “Luke is a respected banker whose experience and commitment to our industry will serve Leadership GBA well,” said Susan Moss, GBA chairman and president and CEO of Planters & Citizens Bank in Camilla. “He understands the value of developing strong leaders, building connections and encouraging bankers to take an active role in shaping the future of our industry.” Lanier has been with Metter Bank, a division of Durden Banking Company, Inc., for 19 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Georgia in 2007 and is a 2011 graduate of the Georgia Banking School. He is a past chairman of the GBA Agriculture Committee, a group he continues to serve with today. In his community, Lanier is past chairman of the Candler County Industrial Authority, treasurer of the Metter Rotary Club and a member of Metter Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Leadership Georgia Class of 2024. About the Georgia Bankers Association: Founded in 1892, the Georgia Bankers Association promotes the general welfare and usefulness of banking and the preservation of a sound banking system. For 134 years, GBA has been the resource that empowers Georgia’s banks, providing effective government relations and public advocacy, a community of professional peers, top-quality education and professional development, and revenue-enhancing products and services.
