Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Peggy Hill Cousins, age 85, of Metter, on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Memorial services were conducted Monday, February 5, at 3 p.m. at The Anchor Worship Center in Metter with Pastor Jesse Goodman officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Peggy was born in Evergreen, North Carolina, to John Everett and Harriet Edith Nelson Hill. She met and married Bobby in 1973 and they soon moved to Pooler. Together they owned and operated “Westside Fence Company.” Peggy was devoted to her role as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She exhibited unconditional love, strength and generosity which extended beyond her immediate family to include a wide network of loved ones. Mrs. Cousins is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Ray Cousins; son, William Beecher Shaw, III; son-in-law, Wayne David Guyer; and two stepchildren, Bill Cousins and Dee Weeden.

Survivors include three daughters, Lillian Teresa Ginn (Donald) of Springfield, Peggy Lynn Guyer of Vidalia and Harriet Edith Page (Ashley) of Metter; two sisters, Fabian Aliece Johnson of Evergreen, NC and Joyce Edith Nance of Chadbourne, NC; grandchildren, Christie Lynn Barbon (Steve) of Hawkinsville, Ashley Nicole Strickland (Simon) of Savannah, Michael Adam Rogers (Erin) of Metter and Haley Madison Page of Metter; great-grandchildren, Libby, Brooklyn, Savannah and Madison Rogers; stepson, Greg Cousins, Sr., of Athens; and Greg’s children and grandchild.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
