Rufus H. “Tump” Herrington, age 74, of Kite, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Emanuel Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 22, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Swainsboro City Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Tump was born February 25, 1952, in Dublin, to the late Arthur Herrington and Louise Shepard Herrington. Mr. Herrington is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sue Herrington; brothers, William Herrington and Lee Herrington; and sisters, Harriett Taylor and Joann Williams.
Mr. Herrington is survived by his daughters, Melissa Herrington of Swainsboro and Becky Wilson (Richey) of Douglas; granddaughters, Laci McRee and Alana Herrington; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of arrangements.
