The Swainsboro Tigers hosted Dublin in the last game of the regular season, the winner of the game got to host a playoff game. This did not go as hoped for the Tigers as they dropped this one to their rivals Dublin, 41-20. The Tigers did not have their best game offensively as a unit only totaling 258 yards and turning it over three times. A bright spot on offense was Jordon Williams who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns, Qin Brown also added a touchdown. The defense held on as long as they could as the game got away from them late. This game doesn’t matter anymore though, the Tigers have to flush because now everyone has a 0-0 record, and no one knows that better than Head Coach Scott Roberts. He says, “Our kids played with great effort from start to finish last week. That’s a big thing. We have to do a better job of taking care of the little things that make the difference against good teams like that. The story of the regular season has been written and we were 8-2. A new story begins this Friday night in Metter and we are the only ones that control what will be written.” So what’s next for the Tigers? They got the three-seed in the region, therefore they have to go on the road. Their first round matchup will be at Metter the two-seed from Region 3. This is a familiar foe for the Tigers because they’ve already beaten Metter by a score of 39-7 to start the season. Metter has a 5-5 record and have won four of their last five games. This game is a very good matchup for Swainsboro and the Tigers will more than likely be favored going into it. Another great thing about this one is that it’s only a 22-mile drive for Tiger fans so they can pack out the crowd for these kids who have worked their tails off all year. So, get behind them fans, because just like last year the Tigers are poised for another deep playoff run.
