The Georgia Department of Education recently announced its Distinguished and Reward Schools list for the 2023-2024 school year. Emanuel County Schools is proud to share that Twin City Elementary School has been recognized as both a Title I Distinguished School and a Reward School.

The Distinguished Schools designation highlights the highest-performing Title I schools in Georgia, while the Reward Schools designation honors Title I schools that have shown the most significant improvement. Distinguished Schools are part of the top 5% of Title I Schoolwide and Title I Targeted Assistance schools, based on the combined English Lan-guage Arts (ELA) and math mastery scores from the statewide assessments conducted in 2022-2023.

In comparing the content mastery scores from the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 statewide as-sessments, Reward Schools are identified as the top 5% of Title I Schoolwide and Title I Tar-geted Assistance schools with the most improvement.

During the announcement, State Superintendent Woods expressed his pride in the hard work and dedication shown by the students, teachers, and communities involved. He noted that Title I Distinguished Schools and Reward Schools have made significant efforts to over-come challenges and achieve impressive gains for their students. In a GADOE press release, he stated, “Together, these schools prove that with collaboration, innovation, and a commit-ment to success, all students can achieve their fullest potential.”

“The designations recognize the school’s ongoing efforts to provide personalized learning, and we commend their commitment to meeting students’ individual needs,” said Dr. Denise Warnock, ECS Superintendent. When asked about the recognition, TCE Principal Jessica Collins responded, “We are incredibly proud of our dedicated staff and students for being recognized as a Title I Distinguished School and Title I Reward School. This recognition re-flects the dedication, passion, and hard work of our entire school community—students, staff, and families. It is through our collective efforts that we have achieved success. I am reminded of a quote that speaks to the core of our mission: “Every child deserves the oppor-tunity to succeed, and through work ethic, perseverance, and collaboration, we can ensure that all students have the support they need to reach their full potential.”
