Uncle Birdie, mascot for Keep Emanuel Beautiful, visited the Swainsboro Fire Department to learn about their aluminum can recycling program. For many years, our local firefighters have partnered with The Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation to raise money to help burn victims by collecting aluminum cans. The monies raised goes to support medical facilities caring for burn victims and help with their recovery. It also supports local fire stations in their efforts to educate the public about burn awareness and prevention. Uncle Birdie and Keep Emanuel Beautiful would like to encourage the citizens in our community to support this great recycling program. Instead of throwing your beer cans or soda cans out of your car/truck window and littering our roadsides, drop them off at the Swainsboro Fire Station.

Dropping off is easy to do. The large wire cage is located in the parking lot behind the fire station at 203 North Green Street. By dropping off your aluminum cans, you’re helping burn victims, educating the public, and keeping our roadsides cleaner.

For more information about the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation, go to GFBF.org or contact the Swainsboro Fire Department.
