The Veterans at the Library met on Monday morning, December 18, 2023, for their last meeting of the year at 9:15 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding, there were 45 in attendance including one new veteran, Edward Alan Williamson. They enjoyed an outstanding breakfast of sausage biscuits, hash browns, cinnamon rolls, Christmas treats, coffee, orange juice, grape juice and cranberry juice.

Williamson served in the U.S. Army from 1986 through 1989. He was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. Chair Tapley reviewed all the accomplishments the group has made through the past two years and how far they have come.

On December 16, the veterans and volunteers from around Emanuel County placed over 1,500 Wreaths on veterans’ graves around Emanuel County. They also placed 18 wreaths at the ‘Veterans and First Responders Memorial Park’ at the flags representing veterans and at the monuments representing the War Between the States, World War I, World War II and the First Responders monument.
