The Wreaths Across America volunteers traveled across Emanuel County on Saturday, January 20, to recover all the 1,600 wreaths on veterans’ graves that were placed there on December 16, 2023. Chair John Tapley delayed the time until 10 a.m. Saturday due to the weather. The Swainsboro Community Service detail was at the Swainsboro City Cemetery on time with their trailer to help remove and transport the retired wreaths that honored the memory of our late veterans during this Christmas season. EGSC Police Chief Trey Drawdy was there with nearly 75 East Georgia College Athletes and members of the AAMI group to help pick up the nearly 700 wreaths from the Swainsboro City Cemetery. The “Veterans at the Library” group thanks all those who participated in this year’s Wreath Across America.
