Dear Editor,

Remember when we were told the “Dixie Theater” would be “restored”? Remember the artist’s rendition showing us what it would look like with the marquee that had “DIXIE”? Me too, but turned out it wasn’t a “restoration”, it was a “renovation”. Big difference between restore and renovate. Wonder why the marquee doesn’t have “Dixie” Theater? By the way, wasn’t the Historic Preservation Grant of $50,000 from the Fox Theatre Institute supposed to be for “The Historic Dixie Theatre”, and a second donation of $22,500? I believe the checks were made payable to “The Historic Dixie Theatre”, not to the “Theatre”. What about all the public donations for “The Historic Dixie Theatre”, and the GOFUNDME page with the video of what the “Dixie” Theatre would look like when completed that raised $167,924? And, what about the $50,000 from the Nordson Foundation that was donated to “The Historic Dixie Theatre”, the $15,000 form Pineland Telephone, and the $10,000 form the Mill Creek Foundation for “The Historic Dixie Theatre”? I wonder how all the donors feel about the “THEATRE” marquee. Whose decision was it that the marquee would have “THEATRE” instead of “DIXIE”, and who approved that decision? Didn’t anyone on the ECCED’s executive board raise a concern that “Dixie” not being on the marquee would come up at some point? Well, that time is now. So, I ask again, why doesn’t the marquee have “DIXIE” Theatre? AND, if it turns out it’s actually supposed to have “DIXIE” instead of “THEATRE”, then I think it’s time to get it changed.
