June Wynette Newsome, age 83, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Emanuel County Nursing Home. Funeral Services were held Saturday, August 29, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Burton Dixon officiating. Interment followed at Old Bethel Church Cemetery. Family received friends one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers were Christian Newsome, Matt Peebles, Gannon Wiley, Bryer Price, Hollis Buxton and Cody Bennett.
June was born June 9, 1943, in Swainsboro, to the late Ray and Etta Mae Jackson Peebles. Mrs. Newsome is preceded in death by her parents, husband, N.H. Newsome, Jr.; and sister, Harriet Peebles.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Peebles (Danny) of Kite; sons, Alan Newsome (Chasity) and Richard Newsome (Donna), both of Swainsboro; seven grandchildren, Matt Peebles, Catlin Ely (Adam), Whitley Newsome, Christian Newsome (Destiny), Gannon Wiley (Catherine), Malia Bennett (Cody) and Analise Newsome; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and sister, Sharon Scott (Harmon) of Swainsboro.
Chapman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
