Joseph W. Brown, age 72, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 13, at 1 p.m. at the ECI Auditorium in Twin City. Interment followed at Rountree Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, January 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Metter.

Joseph was born August 5, 1951, in Metter, to the late Mr. Joseph C. and Mrs. Mary Brooks Brown. He accepted Christ into his life at an early age and became a member of Rountree Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Over the years, Joseph served his church faithfully as a member of the Choir and as a Deacon. He attended Rountree Grove dutifully under the leadership of Pastor S.D. Bing until his health began to fail. Joseph lived a quiet life, working for many years as an orderly at Emanuel Medical Center. One of his favorite things was attending church, and he enjoyed fellowshipping with other churches in the community. Joseph often attended God’s Holy Tabernacle, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Amos Handsome. He also found joy in spreading the Gospel, calling family, friends and neighbors, to tell them about the glory of God and Jesus Christ, the Messiah. Mr. Brown is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jessie Brown; and sister, Christine Howell.

Mr. Brown leaves behind to cherish many fond memories with his siblings, Mr. George Earl Brown (Shirley) of Twin City, Mr. James Brown (Deborah) of Aline, Mr. Alfonzo Brown of Twin City, Mr. Raymond Brown (Carolyn) of Beaufort, South Carolina, Ms. Betty Robinson of Twin City, Mr. Dewayne Brown of McDonough and Mrs. LaTonya JuQueen Deans; and many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hodges Funeral Home of Metter was in charge of arrangements.
