Martha Dudley Lamb, age 78, of Kite, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Wellstar in Augusta after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 19, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Daniel officiating. Interment followed in Williams Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Family received friends on Saturday, July 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Dennis Dudley, Rodney Dudley, Larry Hester, Chad Daniel, Donnie Dudley, Kent Daniel, Dana Dudley and Chris Anderson.

Martha was born May 22, 1948, in Adrian, to the late J.D. Dudley and Ida Pearl Stewart Dudley. Today we gather to celebrate the beautiful life of Martha Jo Dudley Lamb—a devoted wife, loving mother, proud Nana, cherished sister, and faithful friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. Martha Jo was born on May 22, 1948, the youngest of seven children born to Ida Pearl Stewart Dudley and J.D. Dudley. Growing up as the baby of the family gave her a lifetime of treasured memories and stories that she loved to share. Whether she was reminiscing about childhood adventures or laughing about the antics of her brothers and sisters, she had a remarkable gift for bringing those memories to life. Her stories will continue to be passed down for generations, preserving the love and laughter of her family. In 1965, she married the love of her life, Graham Lamb. Together they built a home near Kite, Georgia, where they created a life centered on love, faith, hard work, and family. Their marriage was a beautiful example of commitment and devotion, and together they raised four children: Regina Lamb Watkins, born in 1967; Kimberly Lamb Mincey, born in 1968; Angela Lamb Hicks, born in 1973; and Matthew Graham Lamb, born in 1982. Before becoming a mother, Martha Jo worked as a cosmetologist in Swainsboro. But once her children arrived, she embraced what she considered her life’s greatest calling—being a wife and mother. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family, pouring endless love, encouragement, and support into each of them every single day.

As her family grew, so did her heart. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her life. Her grandchildren never had to wonder if Nana would be there. She made every effort to attend their ballgames, graduations, school events, and special occasions. Wherever she went, everyone around her quickly learned exactly who belonged to her because she proudly proclaimed, “That’s my grandson,” or “That’s my granddaughter.” There was never any doubt about how deeply she loved them. One of Martha Jo’s greatest gifts was making people laugh. She especially loved playfully teasing her grandchildren, always ready with a witty joke, a clever remark, or a little playful mischief. Her teasing was never without purpose—it was simply one of the many ways she expressed her love. Those moments of laughter, smiles, and affectionate banter have become priceless memories that her grandchildren will carry with them forever. Martha Jo also treasured time spent with her siblings. Their annual October beach trips to Jekyll Island became some of the happiest traditions of her life. Those trips were filled with laughter, storytelling, and the special bond that only brothers and sisters can share. Family wasn’t simply important to Martha Jo—it was everything. She was also a devoted Atlanta Braves fan. One of the highlights of her life was attending a Braves game at Truist Park with her family. The Braves won that night, and anyone sitting nearby surely knew who she was cheering for. She celebrated every big play with enthusiasm and joy, creating yet another cherished family memory.

Perhaps Martha Jo’s greatest legacy is the value she instilled in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: the importance of family. She taught them that showing up matters, that love is demonstrated through time and presence, and that life’s greatest blessings are found in the people we hold closest. Her unwavering support, her generous heart, and her constant encouragement shaped the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. On July 16, 2026, Martha Jo passed away suddenly while surrounded by all four of her children—a final reminder of where her heart had always been. Though her family grieves her absence, they find comfort knowing she leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, treasured traditions, joyful laughter, and countless precious memories. While her chair may now be empty and her voice quiet, her influence will never fade. She lives on in every family gathering, every story shared around the table, every child encouraged from the sidelines, every Braves game cheered with excitement, and every playful joke exchanged between generations. Martha Jo Dudley Lamb was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed. Her family will forever be grateful for the gift of her life and the example she set. Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing that love like hers never ends. It lives on in the family she so faithfully nurtured and in the countless lives she touched. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a gift that will remain with us always. Mrs. Lamb is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Graham Lamb; sisters, Rosa Pearl Hester and Nell Daniel; brothers, Tommy Dudley, Jabie Dudley, Jimmy Dudley and Donald Dudley; son-in-law, Tony Hicks.

Mrs. Lamb is survived by her son, Matt Lamb (Brandy) of Twin City; daughters, Regina Watkins (Hines Keen) of Kite, Kim Mincey (Willie) of Swainsboro and Angela Hicks of Garfield; sister, Mille Dudley of Lookeba, OK; grandchildren, Tiffany Anderson (Chris), Hannah Mincey, Wes Mincey, Jeb Watkins (Kasey), Johnna Presley (Will), JC Hicks (Shelby), Josh Hicks, Alaya Hudson, Aubrey Hudson, Leslie Keen and Melissa Keen; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Hunter, Elek, Christian, Chandler, Chanslee, Clayton, Cheston, Chayton, Ava and Riley; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
