Margie Martin, 73

Margie Martin, age 73, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at her residence. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 28, at 2 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Hardin officiating. Interment followed at Hall Cemetery. Family received friends for an hour prior to the service.

Margie was born May 26, 1953, in Emanuel County, to the late James David “J.D” and Bertha Downs Beckworth. She owned and operated Donnie’s Body Shop with her family in Swainsboro for many, many years. Margie enjoyed watching Hallmark movies. She was a member of the Swainsboro First Church of the Nazarene and was a true Christian woman. Mrs. Martin is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pete Martin; son, Jonathan David Waters; siblings, Donald “Donnie” Beckworth, Sr., Jimmy Beckworth, Tommy Beckworth, Nolan Beckworth, Anne Newsome and Carolyn Mimbs; grandchildren, Troy Boulineau, Jr. and Tyler Beckworth.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughter, Tammy Brown; stepchildren, Angie Smith and Chuck Martin; grandchildren, Jonathan (Courtney Peebles) Brown, Brandi Martin, Tabitha Lynn Smith and Jamie Lynn Morgan; 12 great-grandchildren; stepbrother, Billy Poole; and several nieces and nephews.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
