Barney Eugene Kea, 81

Barney Eugene Kea, age 81, of Swainsboro, passed away Monday, August 24, 2026, at his residence. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, August 26, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Whitehead officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. Family received friends one hour prior to services.

Pallbearers were Mitch Riner, Jeff Lane, Jeremy Faircloth, Jody Womack, Gene Hall and Gene Kea. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Wednesday Night Supper Club.

Barney was born January 9, 1945, to the late Franklin Eugene Kea and Jacqueline Whitehead Kea. He was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life and made the most of the time he had with family and friends. Barney loved being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and was a proud member of the Boggy Bottom Hunting Club. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite teams. One of the things Barney enjoyed most was coaching his sons during their Dixie Youth years and later in Rec. football. He loved being involved and watching his boys grow, both on and off the field. Barney worked at J. A. Youngblood Oil for 40+ years from where he retired.

Barney proudly served his country in the United States Navy and later gave back to his community as a volunteer firefighter. He was a man of strong faith and was of the Baptist faith. Through his love for family, his service to others, and the things he enjoyed, Barney leaves behind many memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Patricia Kea of Swainsboro; sons, Rusty Kea (April) and Benjie Kea, both of Swainsboro; brother, Donnie Kea (Nancy) of Elberton; sister, Patricia Kuhnert (Jack) of Eatonton; grandchildren, Cameron Kea (Jency) and Emily Kea; great-grandson, Beckham Kea; nieces, Tammy Cochran (Steven) and Megan; nephews, Jeffrey McCarty (Janet) and Dusty Kuhnert; special family friend, Magda Juarez; and many other friends.

Chapman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
