Cerpovicz speaks to Kiwanis

The Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro held its weekly meeting Tuesday night, June 22, at the Franklin Memorial Library at 6:30 p.m. With President Dianna Wedincamp presiding, we had 14 in attendance, including guests, Oskar Cerpovicz and Angela Landers. Deana Patrick won the lemon cake, Karolina Cerpovicz won the Andes Mints and Tim Goodman won the Domino Pizza. Dianna noted the Board voted to purchase a sound system for the Emanuel Arts Council and the streetlights that Kiwanis purchased for the Franklin Memorial Library will soon be installed. Deana Patrick summarized the Franklin Memorial Library summer reading activities. Last week was the kickoff with a Magician who brought along animals, including a snake and assorted other critters, to support the dinosaur theme. This week, a group from the Center for Wildlife Education at Georgia Southern University attracted a crowd of over 200 spectators. Kiwanis will have a cookout for the participants at the end of the summer. With the popularity of the program, we now expect around 125 participants. Paul Cerpovicz gave us an update on the Little Free Libraries (LFL). LFLs have been placed in the Veterans and First Responders Park and in Adrian. Others will be placed in Twin City at the Graymont Community Park, Emanuel Medical Center and the Recreation Center playground. The Girl Scouts have requested additional books for their LFL. We have a few more LFLs to finish.
