Mr. Huey Steptoe, 81, resident of Grovetown and former longtime resident of Swainsboro, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Doctor’s Hospital in Augusta. Graveside services will be held Friday, October 11, at 11 a.m. from Eastbrook Cemetery with Reverend Andrew Flowers officiating.

Huey was born March 27, 1943, in Meeks, to the late Edward Steptoe and Madie Price Steptoe. He was a contractor and master carpenter and built houses all over the area. Huey believed in quality work. He was a member of Eastwood Church of God and served the church as Finance Chairman and Sunday School Superintendent, as well as many other capacities over the years.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Ann Steptoe; son, William H. Steptoe (Angela); brother, Dwell Steptoe; two sisters, Jo Newsome and Diane McCorvey; two grandchildren, Renee Cousins and Christopher Steptoe; and six great-grandchildren.

Tomlinson Funeral Home and Crematory of Swainsboro is in charge of arrangements.
