The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting at the Franklin Memorial Library Monday morning, July 20, at 9 a.m. With Veteran Scotty Nasworthy presiding, they had 41 in attendance. The Beta Sigma Phi provided breakfast consisting of sausage biscuits and muffins and Shari Watt provided the orange juice, grape juice, cranberry juice, apple juice, and coffee. Veteran Scotty Nasworthy presented a check for $2,000.00 to Franklin Memorial Library to be used as part of the Emanuel County wide school book bag project and other projects that the library is involved with. The $2,000.00 came from our Veterans Cup Golf Tournament that the funds we raised are given back to the community. Scotty also talked about the new Veterans Wall that is under construction at the Veterans and 1st Responders Memorial Park. If anyone would be interested in placing their family veteran on the wall, go to the Veterans at the Library Facebook page and fill out the form, and be sure and be on the lookout for the flyer that you can use to honor your veteran on the new wall.
Scotty and Wayne Canady also passed out tickets to each veteran for the gun drawing that will be held each day in September, and there will be 30 firearms given away during the month of September. Be sure to contact a member of the Veterans at the Library to purchase a ticket.
