Retirement honors Michael Bright

A mainstay and major proponent of downtown Swainsboro was given his fond farewell and fonder comments of appreciations last week. Michael Bright was honored with a retirement reception on Thursday evening, September 24, at the Karrh Theater to commemorate his twelve years of service to the Main Street Market. Current and former vendors at the market were on hand, as well as friends and supporters from around the area, to thank the market manager for building and maintaining one of the finest retail antique and special interest venues in the State. After taking some good-natured ribbing about his “shyness” and his on-line “dancing with the stars” commercials, Bright spoke of his time at the market as one of the most satisfying business experiences he has had. Former Mayor Charles Schwabe also commented, “We could have looked all over the country and still not found a better person for this position than Michael Bright. It was more than just a job to Michael, and he turned it into a real asset for this town. He has done an incredible job.”

Bright’s tenure at the Market has captured awards and recognition from various State agencies as well as retail organizations and leaves the business in glowing and growing condition. Main Street Market is a public/private joint project of the City of Swainsboro’s Downtown Development Authority.
