Winnie J. Stoddard, 93, of Chapel Hill, NC, formerly of Garfield, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, in Pittsboro, North Carolina, following an extended illness. Graveside service was held Saturday, April 5, at 2 p.m. at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Franklin Sasser officiating. Family received friends Saturday, April 5, from 1 p.m. until time of service at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery,

Winnie was born January 7, 1932, in Garfield, to Mr. John T. Johnson, Jr. and Mrs. Pearl Allmond Johnson. Mrs. Stoddard is preceded in death by her parents; and first husband, Harold Eugene Gibson.

Mrs. Stoddard is survived by her husband, Stephen Stoddard of Chapel Hill; daughters, Deborah Gibson Willingham (Terry) of San Angelo, TX and Angela Stoddard Funkhouser (Joe) of Bunker Hill, West VA; brothers, James M. Johnson (Ruth) of Barnwell, SC and Roger Johnson (Joyce) of Garfield; sisters, Juanita Sikes of Garfield, Martha Peacock (Bobby) of Twin City and Linda Nash (Terry) of Goodland, KS; granddaughters, Lacey Scorgie (Alex) of Princeton, TX and Beth Anne Cantrell (Danny) of Martinsburg, West VA; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
