James Marion, SR., age 82, entered eternal rest on Monday, June 22, 2026. A Homecoming Celebration was held Friday, June 26, at 11 a.m. at Smith Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Lawrence officiating and Pastor Mark Wise presiding. Interment followed in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
James was born January 20, 1944, in Swainsboro, to the late Benjamin Pete Young and Mary-Rose Marion Young. From humble beginnings, he grew into a man defined by integrity, quiet strength and deep devotion to family, faith and country. James honorably served his country in the US Army and courageously served during the Vietnam War. His service reflected his bravery, discipline and unwavering commitment to duty and sacrifice. Above all, James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great family patriarch.
Mr. Marion leaves to cherish his memories with his beloved wife, Ruby Marion; children, James Marion, Jr., Latarsha Marion, Elizabeth, David (Josephine) Coleman and Frank (Kathleen) Coleman, Jr.; siblings, Eddie Blake, Aldrich (Roma) Marion and Joann Foots; sisters-in-law, Essie Hodges of New York, Bobbie Mack and Thelma Mack of Philadelphia.
